Effect of Fractal Characteristics on Dynamic Response of Bionic Floating Wind Turbine Platform

    • To improve the overall stability of wind power systems, a novel semi-submersible platform based on the fractal vein structure of Victoria amazonica leaf was proposed. Numerical simulation was conducted to investigate the impact of fractal characteristics on hydrodynamic performance of the platform. Results show that the bionic platform reduces the overall mass of the semi-submersible platform while increasing its draft, thereby effectively enhancing platform stability, particularly in pitch motion response. When the fractal dimension reaches 1.370, the bionic platform achieves optimal dynamic response. As the fractal dimension increases, the cavity structure scale of the bionic platform decreases, leading to stronger viscous effect along the fluid boundary. The interaction of vortices across different scales contributes to the improvement of wave energy absorption efficiency.
